Callaghan ap LLara, bisexual linguist, often behaves as the comic relief but beneath that he has depth. Friends with Kat and Honor since childhood. Not easily insulted but will defend his friends.
Aktara-Day, Kat's bodyguard, a dark skinned lesbian of few words but great fighting skills. Adopted. Was previously an escort for travellers, especially merchants. First met Cal in a bar where she rescued him from a homophobia fuelled attack.
MacBride, a later addition to the Tour group who forms a romantic bond with Kat, a renaissance man with a penchant for partying and knowledge alike (gets on well with Cal, but Honor doesn't trust him)
Riku, female soldier, who is dealing with the strain of leaving her husband and children behind while she undertakes this career-making year of duty; as a person of a (polytheistic) faith she and Honor have a lot of common ground
