Snowflake Challenge 2024 - challenge 9

Challenge #9 Rec Us Your Newest Thing

Hmm. A lot of my current stuff is recurring, new seasons of shows I'd already been watching, movies I've seen before/next in franchise, or older shows which are new to me but old hat to others.

I fell in love with the character of Domingo Chavez in the final season of Jack Ryan last year and requested the character for Yuletide and did get matched on it so that was fun :) I couldn't find a gif so instead here's an image; I made this "name" poster for part of a [profile] lands_of_magc challenge:

I watched and enjoyed "Fast X" at the weekend, Jason Momoa was a fun villain camping it up in a movie that embraces it's silliness and over-the-top action scenes while retaining the key theme of Family in all the ways the characters understand that.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed the rebooted "Gladiators" which has moved to BBC. Bradley Walsh and his son host and the whole thing is very much leaning into the over to top cheesiness against the adrenaline fuelled backdrop and it's capturing a lot of the nostalgia crowd and younger fans. Might even encourage children to take up more exercise!

Jack Ryan has been rec'd to me, so now I have another reason to watch... sometimes the 'secondary' characters are the most fun.

And it looks like Jason had fun doing that movie...

Thanks for playing alone with snowflake today!

That gif of Jason is amazing, he made Fast X for me.

YES! I enjoyed it so much. I watched out of nostalgia as I always used to watch the old version with my family, but ended up enjoying this one just as much. I loved how OTT and ridiculous the whole show was, but in a very good way.

Oh yes! When I heard the familiar Gladiators fanfare at the start of the show leading into the old song 'Do you feel the power of the Gladiators?' etc. and the referee said 'Contenders, ready! Gladiators, ready!' I was glued to the screen.

People were moaning that the Gladiators were all too nice, but I bet they will fall into roles soon and start playacting. I thought Viper and Legend were good at their parts already.

Looking forward to the next episode!

Yes hopefully they'll all settle down and start having conflicts with each other.

I remember people saying 'Wolf isn't a very convincing villain' in the last series, but now all they say is 'Wolf wouldn't do that, he was much better than Viper.' etc. 😂

Legend is really showing off isn't he, it's fun!😅

I have SO much love for the Gladiators reboot. I adored it as a kid, remembered playing it in the playground, and initially tuned in for the nostalgia but have in fact fallen in love all over again. Course, I don't remember the lycra being that tight or the innuendos even existing, but then I was... much younger back then.
And I can barely walk but if you put me in front the Eliminator, I would not be able to resist LMAO
