AO3 tips and tricks
This week I saw people recommending a new online document editor - Ellipsus. It's currently in beta and completely free. It's being touted as a Google Docs alternative free from any AI influence and with an easy way to Export to AO3.
I haven't tried the site indepth, just signed up to see what it's like, but might be worth checking out. Wrestling with html from Word/Google Docs can be bothersome at best!
Sharing from AO3 - If you've posted to AO3 but now want to promote your fic elsewhere, an easy way is the SHARE button! I've taken some screencaps and written a brief guide, below the cut:
This is such an easy way to get formatted html to post to your journal - or to share directly to Twitter/Tumblr.
1) While logged in, go to one of your fics that you want to promote and click on the Share button

2) You can click to share to Twitter or Tumblr. For Dreamwidth, select all the text that's in the box and copy it
3) Open up a new post as usual at Dreamwidth - I have my journal set for automatic html in the Settings. If you have rich text format as your default use the dropdown box under the title box to change to casual html for this post (you maybe, next entry, have to change it back).

4) Post the copied text in

5) Click the "preview" button as you would for any post and see how it looks

6a) If you want to edit the html you can! Remove any lines you don't want. Adjust the formatting.
I always like the summary to follow the word "summary" and not go to the next line, so I remove the paragraph break (angle bracket-p-angle bracket)

6b)which gives this

7) When you're happy, post! If you're participating in a fest this is often the preferred way to share your work, since it already includes all the characters and warnings. If you're sharing a list of fic recs this is a slightly easier way than collecting all the links yourself.
